Since 1787, Place du Nouveau Marché au Grain has been a public space in the heart of Brussels' Dansaert neighbourhood, laid out on the grounds of the former Jericho convent to plans by architect R. Nivoy. It was the third and last of the large urban ensembles created in the last quarter of the 18th century under the Austrian Regime, and today it is bordered by shops, restaurants and plane trees. It hosts jam sessions.
